Your hosts, Jan & Andy give you their ‘Top Tips For Torrox’
1 Torrox Pueblo life
Soak up the glorious atmosphere of Torrox; an ancient white washed walled ‘ Old Spanish’ Pueblo that reflects its Arabic history. Walk down to the plaza to collect your bread or take coffee and tapas in the many bars in the beautiful plaza. You can easily spend a day drinking a cold beer overlooking the beauty that Torrox life has to offer.
Car hire is a good idea to benefit from all the area has to offer but there is a good bus service and of course many people visit for the renowned walking treks here.
2 Explore the beaches and coves of Nerja and Torrox Costa
Burriana beach on the out skirts of Nerja the next town along the coast from Torrox has all you desire. The beach is superb – with bars, cafes and wonderful Moroccan sun beds. When the heat gets too much you can try out excellent restaurants and bars especially around the famous balcon. You can also walk along the river bed (or also a short drive) from our village to the coast to Torrox Costa. Torrox Costa has a different feel. A long stretch of beach with promenade and many cafes and bars and of course the famous chiringutos (beach bars) Mambo at Laguna Beach is known for its cocktails and excellent selection of fresh fish barbecued on the beach.
3 Relax at the National Park.
For the more traditional style beaches of the area for a chill out time try Maro the next beach past Nerja and beyond which is the start of the National Park, or playa de Paraiso half way from Torrox Costa to Nerja .
4 Take the back road to Frigliana.
This is a beautiful white walled village with souvenir shops and bars and restaurants. If you do have or rent a car and if you feel brave the back road to Frigiliana from our village to travel is breathtaking with the views to the sea. A stop off at los Caricoles, a hotel on the way, for a look at the view, or a stop on the way home for a sundown!!! Also along this road is El Acebuchal, the lost village. The little tavern there does the best meal in the world.
5 Watch the sun set and dine on the terrace
On a lazy sunny day or a chill out evening after a day on the beach, we must say you will not beat our terrace for the sun and views at any time of the year. Take advantage of the BBQ bar and dining area or go up on our new roof terrace for a sun diner to watch the sun go down. Drinks under the starts is a great finish to the day.
